Electronic Structure of Bi-Activated Luminescent Compounds and Pure Bismuth Photocatalytic Compounds

The trends in electronic structure of Bi 3+ and 2+ as luminescent dopant wide bandgap inorganic compounds that pure Bi-compounds for photocatalytic splitting water are explored by determination vacuum referred electron binding energies. Spectroscopic data combined with the chemical shift model from luminescence field on flatband potentials electrochemistry provide most needed data. Occasionally photoelectron spectroscopy is used. VRBE ground state excited levels resemble Ce Eu lanthanides. To some extend a Bi-compound can be regarded 100% doped La-compound. This all will demonstrated an overview presented. Comparison entails also comparison two disciplines electro-chemistry, materials photo-catalytic compounds.
